Scientist Protein Production
Do you wish to join a well-funded, research-oriented organisation with highly skilled colleagues in the development of therapies against neurodegenerative disorders? Come join BioArctic in Stockholm.
BioArctic is looking for a skilled Scientist in Protein Production to strengthen our laboratory capabilities in recombinant protein expression and purification. This role includes planning, executing and troubleshooting small-scale protein production in mammalian expression systems, E. coli and potentially other relevant platforms, and developing and optimizing purification workflows.
In this role you would work with a broad range of protein modalities such as monoclonal antibodies, bi- and multispecific antibodies, antibody-fusion proteins, enzymes, ADCs, and other complex protein formats, adapting methods to each modality. Maintaining high laboratory standards, ensuring accurate documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of workflows are essential aspects of the role.
Overall responsibilities
Plan, execute and troubleshoot small-scale protein production in mammalian expression systems, such as transient expression in ExpiCHO and Expi293.
Express recombinant proteins in E. coli and potentially other relevant expression platforms, selecting appropriate systems based on project needs.
Perform downstream purification using ÄKTA chromatography systems, including affinity, ion exchange (e.g. IEX) and preparative SEC, and develop/optimize purification protocols when needed.
Maintain high laboratory standards, including accurate documentation, compliance with internal procedures and contribution to continuous improvement of workflows and methods.
Education
BSc in Biotechnology (or other relevant life science discipline)
Required experience
More than 5 years of experience in the biotech industry, with a focus on protein expression and purification
Extensive experience in transient protein production in mammalian expression systems, including platforms such as ExpiCHO and Expi293.
Hands-on experience with protein expression in E. coli and other relevant expression systems.
Proficient in ÄKTA-based protein purification, such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange (IEX) and preparative size exclusion chromatography (SEC).
Experience of purification method development and maintenance/troubleshooting of purification instruments.
Experience in working with a broad range of protein modalities, such as monoclonal antibodies, bi- and multi-specific antibodies, antibody-fusion proteins, enzymes, ADCs and other complex protein formats.
Desired experience
Experienced in protein characterization and quality analysis methods
Experience of working in pharmaceutical industry
Desirable knowledge
Knowledge about drug discovery and drug development
As a person, you are organized and systematic. You take initiatives and responsibility for your own work. You are a team player who think it is important to share ideas and experiences with colleagues, and you have strong communication skills, and are fluent in both spoken and written English.
This is a permanent, full-time position with a start date as soon as possible, located at our headquarters in Stockholm.
If you recognize yourself in this profile and are motivated by working with complex protein modalities in a high-quality laboratory environment, we would be happy to receive your application. Candidate selection and interviews are held on a continuous basis, and the advertisement may be closed before the deadline.
