BioArctic is looking for a Legal Counsel
Join BioArctic as Legal Counsel, advising the business on commercial agreements and compliance while helping advance innovative treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
BioArctic AB (publ) is a Swedish research-based biopharma company with a vision of a world where science defeats severe brain diseases. Through world-leading science and strong collaborations, we create and develop innovative treatments for patients with severe brain diseases. BioArctic originated the antibody behind the world’s first treatment proven to slow disease progression in early Alzheimer’s disease and has a broad research portfolio in neurodegenerative diseases. BioArctic’s B share (BIOA B) is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm Large Cap.
Founded in 2003, BioArctic has more than 160 employees and operations across the Nordic countries. Our headquarters and main offices are located on Kungsholmen in Stockholm. Our culture is guided by our core values: CARE, CHALLENGE and COLLABORATE. We offer an inclusive and engaging environment where employees take responsibility, challenge established thinking, contribute diverse perspectives and work together to create meaningful impact for patients. Would you like to use legal and compliance expertise to enable the development of new treatments for neurodegenerative diseases?
As a Legal Counsel at BioArctic, you will take on a broad role close to the business, working collaboratively as part of the Legal & Intellectual Property team and with colleagues across the organization. You will contribute to commercial agreements, business-oriented legal advice and the development of the company’s compliance program. You will have the opportunity to influence ways of working and solutions in an innovative, growing life science environment. This role offers strong opportunities to grow professionally and broaden your legal and compliance expertise as BioArctic continues to develop.
Your responsibilities
As Legal Counsel, you will draft and review agreements, support negotiations and provide business-oriented advice on pragmatic, risk-based ways forward, primarily in contract law and other relevant areas of commercial law. You will also help develop and implement the company’s compliance framework, support the business in applying relevant requirements and contribute to general compliance follow-up. In addition, you will deliver training, improve legal processes and ways of working, and contribute to the management of legal and compliance-related risks. The position reports to the General Counsel.
Your profile and qualifications
· You hold a Swedish law degree (juristexamen), an LL.M., a degree in commercial law, or another relevant legal qualification.
· You have at least three years of legal experience gained at a company, law firm, or other comparable organization.
· You have experience drafting and reviewing agreements, supporting negotiations and providing legal advice directly to the business. You are comfortable taking responsibility for matters independently, while recognizing when alignment or specialist support is needed.
· You have experience in commercial law and contract law, together with an interest in developing your knowledge of internal compliance. You can analyze and apply relevant laws, regulations, industry practices and internal governing documents, independently when appropriate and with support in more complex or unfamiliar matters.
· Experience in life sciences, research and development activities, training, or presenting legal and compliance matters is an advantage, but not a requirement. More important is your ability and motivation to build knowledge in these areas.
· You are fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English and can explain complex matters clearly and in a structured manner.
You will thrive in this role if you are:
· Pragmatic and business-oriented, with sound judgement and the ability to balance opportunities, risks and business needs.
· Independent, proactive and accountable; you make things happen and deliver high-quality results.
· Structured and systematic, with the ability to prioritize and manage several matters in parallel.
· A clear and engaging communicator, able to build understanding and support and make an impact on legal and compliance-related matters.
· Collaborative and responsive, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively with colleagues throughout the organization.
· Analytical and solution-oriented, with an eye for both detail and the bigger picture.
We offer:
· A broad role with significant opportunities to contribute to and further develop commercial contracting and the company’s compliance program in an innovative and growing life science company.
· The opportunity to work closely with decision-makers and colleagues across the organization on commercial agreements, other commercial legal matters, compliance, training and the development of internal ways of working.
· A workplace with a high level of employee satisfaction, characterized by mutual respect and professionalism.
· The opportunity to grow professionally and work as part of a knowledgeable and committed Legal & IP team.
